Do your designers have interior design degrees?

Yes. All SummerHouse designers have degrees in interior design and CAD training, as well as real design experience to ensure your project is executed without a hitch. 

How do you charge for design fees?

Our designers do not charge design fees if you are purchasing furnishings through SummerHouse. If your needs are help with new construction or a renovation, you will be charged fees for services related to the construction. If you need design help regarding new furnishings, rugs, drapery, etc. our designers do not charge design fees if you are purchasing through Summerhouse. Should SummerHouse merchandise not be part of your project, all of our designers offer their services by the hour.

If I'm not purchasing anything at SummerHouse, can I still use SH designers?

Of course! All of our designers offer their design services at an hourly rate. If you would like us to send our interior design contract, please call the store and ask to speak to a designer. 

Do you work with clients on renovations or new construction?

Yes! All the time. We often collaborate with architects and builders on both renovations and new construction projects. We like to be involved in such projects from the beginning to help manage the process for our clients and ensure design details are not overlooked. 

What do you charge for delivery? Is shipping from your vendor to the store included in the price?

The prices of merchandise on our floor and in client proposals include the price of shipping from the vendor to our showroom/warehouse. Delivery from our showroom to your home is an additional charge that varies depending on the scale of the delivery. For one to five pieces in the Jackson or Oxford metro area, the delivery fee is $95 plus tax. 

Do I have to live in Mississippi to be a SummerHouse client?

Although our showrooms are located in Mississippi, we work on interior design projects with clients across the U.S.  From the comfort of your home or anywhere in the world, our designers can work on your project remotely. Please contact us to learn more about our remote design services or to schedule a consultation with one of our designers.   

How far can you deliver furniture?

Our in-house delivery team can make white glove deliveries throughout Mississippi. We occasionally make in-home deliveries in surrounding states so please contact us to determine if your location is feasible for white glove delivery by our team. Most of our vendors do offer shipping directly from their factories, as well. 

Can you ship art, decor and accessories from the store?

Yes. We are happy to ship merchandise across the U.S. Shipping prices will vary depending on your location, as well as the weight and size of the item. 

Can I shop directly from the SummerHouse showroom?

Yes. We sell directly from our showroom floor so if you see something you love in-store, you can take it home that day, make arrangements for our in-house delivery team to get your purchases to you safely and promptly, or make an appointment to pick it up from our warehouse. If you see something you like on our social media pages, please send us a direct message and one of our designers will respond with details.

Where are your showrooms located and what do you sell?

We have two showrooms that are located in Ridgeland and Oxford, Mississippi. Each showcases vintage and one-of-a-kind sourced antiques and collectables as well as regional art, and lines such as Hickory Chair, Lee Industries, Highland House, Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, as well as bespoke pieces designed by SH Principal Designer & Owner, Lisa Palmer. 

Can I shop from SummerHouse online? 

Currently, we do not offer online shopping but we regularly feature our merchandise on Facebook and Instagram. Follow us to see what’s new and if you see something you like, please send us a direct message for details. We are happy to send you measurements or additional photos. 

Can pieces in the showroom be customized or special ordered?

Most of our upholstery and furniture can be custom ordered to your preferences in fabrics, finishes, custom sizing, etc. If you see something you love in the showroom but it doesn’t fit your space or budget, our designers would be happy to share options tailored to your space and budget.   

How long will it take special orders to arrive?

Special order production and delivery times can vary from vendor to vendor, but typically take six to eight weeks. As a result of Covid-19, many vendors are experiencing longer production times. Your designer can provide you with a delivery date for your project at the time of your order. 

Will you handle arrangements for painting, wallpaper installs, etc.? 

Yes. We are a full-service design firm and manage each detail of our clients’ projects. Whether it’s making arrangements for wallpaper or lighting installs, to popping in a workroom to ensure an upholstery project is just right, we carefully oversee each element of every project.

If I find a piece online at a lower price, will SummerHouse price match? 

That IS possible some of the time and varies with the vendor.  

Is there a minimum budget for interior design services? 

We like to say, there is no job too small. 

Do you offer discounts?

We have many sales throughout the year, so follow us or subscribe to our emails for updates on sales and promotions. For our clients, we offer a tiered discount structure as follows: spend $18,000 -$30,000 and receive 10% off; $30,000 - $50,000 receive 15% off; and 20% off any spend over $50,000. 

How do I get started with an interior designer at SummerHouse?

To get started, please contact us by phone, email or through our website.  We would love to hear from you and learn more about your project. You can learn more about our designers and view their portfolios on our website.

Will I be able to see your plans and pre-approve purchases for my project?

Of course. Our clients review detailed proposals, plans and samples prior to placing orders for a project. SummerHouse designers will not make any purchases on a client’s behalf without prior approval.

How long will my project take? 

Timing all depends on the scale of your project. If you have a quick timeline in mind, we can source furnishings and accessories from our showrooms for a quick turnaround or source “in stock” pieces from our vendors. Most projects involve special orders which typically take eight weeks to arrive once the client has made their selections. 

Can you create custom furniture?

Yes. In fact, we love to! Our designers often collaborate with local artists and craftspeople to create just what our client is looking for or a unique piece to complete a space.
