Tranquil Retreat in Delta Magazine

Our very own Elizabeth Gullett was featured in the latest issue of Delta Magazine! This tranquil retreat out in Brandon has a very beachy feel, specifically designed by Elizabeth to compliment the home's location on the water! When we went out for this shoot, we really did feel like we were on vacation when really we were only minutes from home!

You may remember seeing a few behind-the-scenes shots in this blog post from a few weeks back.

Now, we give you... The actual spread!

Catching Up With Brian Fuente

Brian Fuente has been busy busy busy lately! Lisa's talented son (and former contestant on The Voice!) took a few minutes out of his fast-paced schedule to answer a few questions to catch us up to speed on his life as of late! Thank you, Brian, for indulging us!

SH: What's the most exciting career opportunity you've had in the past 6 months or so?

BF: Wow, the past six months have been very busy. I got the chance to put one of the best bands I have ever had together back in August. I have written what I think are the best songs I have ever written.
I released my first EP as a solo artist in October and then released my first music video in November. It's been BUSY!

I would also have to say that I started recording my first full length at the beginning of December which I am pumped about.

You have a new band since last we blogged about you! Can you tell us about The Shadows?

The Shadows consist of:

Damon Lascot (Guitar) who toured with Meatloaf for years.
Tony James (drums) - playd with Cindi Lauper, Billy Squier, Mariah Carey and also an Emmy nominated actor. You may have seen him on Disney's Out of The Box.
Brian Carrion (keyboards, Guitar)

These are some of my closest friends and some of the most talented musicians I have ever shared the stage with.

We hear you've been in the recording studio a lot lately... What sort of feel can we expect from your next record?

So the EP that I released in October titled "1983" paid homage to the early 80's when I was born. This new record is going to be MUCH different. It's going to be more modern with big hooks, pristine production and it will definitely be more marketable in my opinion. I am spending nearly 7 days a week for 2 months on this record. We are shooting for 10-11 songs total.

Fabulous! Speaking of that record... When is it scheduled to be available for music hungry fans like us?!

I am shooting to release the new record in March but that could be more of an unrealistic expectation. It seems to always take longer than you expect it to. I have to be very careful on how and when I release this record. It's extremely important that I have all of my ducks in a row when I release it. You can't just put out a record independently and expect people to just buy it. Marketing, PR and branding is absolutely everything!

Oh yeah! So what else has been going on in your world that we need to know about?

Well in between recording a record, keeping up with SummerHouse's advertising and trying to catch a little sleep, I must say not much. I am preparing to go on tour at the end of the month to California Jan. 24 - Feb 4 that I am really looking forward to.

That's awesome! Ok, total change of subject for a minute: What's your favorite piece of SummerHouse furniture you have? :)

My Mitchell Gold Dexter Sofa has been with me since 07' and I must say that it's been through a lot and still looks AMAZING and super comfortable!

LOVE Dexter! What are you most looking forward to in the new year?

What I look forward to most this year is taking my career to a new level. I have spent thousands of hours preparing for this year and I truly believe that all of the hours put in will pay off in 2013!

We have FULL confidence that they will!! Thanks again for taking a minute to chat! We love us some Brian Fuente!

There's no denying it. It's back in a big way, and it's here to stay! Blithe and Vine Update

Blithe and Vine, one of our favorite women's clothing shops in Jackson, just had a birthday! To celebrate this milestone, their store got a little face lift! Lisa did a great job of adding a few updates to brighten the store up just a little bit!

Lisa did the original store design several years ago, but as with most spaces--especially those with higher traffic, like shops-- updates are needed from time to time to keep things fresh! This round of updates included:

- a new rug in front of the curved wall
- brand new, custom designed tables to go on top of the brand new rug!
- a faux finish on the wall behind the cash wrap
- a re-finished mirror to go on the brand new faux finished wall

Let's take a look, shall we?

Firefly Cottage at Willow Pond Designer Showhouse

{ designer showhouse time! }

If you've talked to Lisa or Elish recently, you've probably heard them meniton "the showhouse at Chestnut Hill." This exciting project, of which Lisa is lead designer, is called Firefly Cottage at Willow Pond, and is located out in Madison County on Highway 463!

Firefly Cottage at Willow Pond

The SummerHouse team has been working tirelessly picking out surfaces and materials, and has put countless hours into making this designer showhouse the best that our area has ever seen! She's also got eight other designers working with her, a few of which are shown here!

[caption id="attachment_293" align="aligncenter" width="584"]Show House Designers Show House Designers: (l-r) Elish Phares, Joan Hawkins, Annelle Primos, Patti Harriston, Ruth McMillin, and Lisa Palmer. Not pictured: Celia Barrett, Erik Kegler, Nancy Price and Pam Rogers.[/caption]

Be sure to go ahead and save the date(s!) This showhouse will be open to the public from October 26 through November 4 (9 a.m. until 5 p.m.) and it's going to be gorgeous...

The preview party for this grand showhouse is October 25 from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. and we've got tickets for sale for both the preview party and the actual showhouse! ($50 for the party, $10 for regular admission.)

The proceeds of the show house benefit the Education Programs of the Craftsmen's Guild of Mississippi and every room will feature handcrafted work by Guild Master Craftsmen. It should be nothing short of spectacular!

Stay tuned for more posts about the show house as the date draws closer!

The Highlands Home

SummerHouse designer Elizabeth Gullett recently completed a project in Madison that we're all crazy about! This project, which we've dubbed "The Highlands Home," is approachably elegant, light-filled, and comfortable all at the same time.

Designed by Elizabeth Gullet | SummerHouse | Ridgeland, MS

As we were talking with Elizabeth about the project, (more specifically, the living room) she gave us an idea of what the client wanted, and how she was able to create just what was asked of her... with serious style!

Designed by Elizabeth Gullet | SummerHouse | Ridgeland, MS

"These clients like to entertain. They wanted this space to be just as good for kids playing Wii as it is for adult parties. It needed to be elegant enough for a living room but still approachable and relaxed enough to serve as the family room. The homeowner used to be in catering, so throwing parties in is her blood. We needed to be sure to have lots of seating for lots of guests."

Designed by Elizabeth Gullet | SummerHouse | Ridgeland, MS

"We established the feeling the client wanted, then I got to run with the design... I was given much freedom!"

Designed by Elizabeth Gullet | SummerHouse | Ridgeland, MS

"I love the mix of rich textures... Yummy velvet and embroidered linen pillows, and the antique Oushak rug, mixed with more casual materials -the jute lamp shades, chunky linen upholstery- gives the room a look that flows easily from everyday family life to party time."

Designed by Elizabeth Gullet | SummerHouse | Ridgeland, MS

"To quote my client, "I feel like I'm on vacation when I'm at my house now...even my friends say it's so peaceful. I don't ever want to leave!!" That's what I like to hear!"
