DYANN GUNTER- For years & years I felt I could only paint or draw something I could "see". I did portraits of people and dogs from photographs etc. Now, all of my paintings are completely unplanned. From the beginning of laying down thick textures to putting down random colors and manipulating the mediums, I have no plan. Eventually, the painting seems to come to life after hours of experimenting & actually playing. It is an improvisational journey that I have come to love. I feel completely free. My paintings have become my unconcious desire to create and explore. The end result is thrilling.

Dyann graduated from Memphis Academy of Arts. She has attended numerous workshops and figure drawing classes over the past 30 years. She presently works full time for Service Printers Inc. as an account executive but makes time to paint almost every night and weekends.

Just this past October, Neiman Marcus and Horchow picked 5 of Dyann's pieces to carry in their stores and catalogues.
